ODM leader Raila Odinga has donated five acres of land to the government to support the ongoing Affordable Housing Programme, aimed at providing homes for low-income earners.
President William Ruto disclosed the gesture on Thursday, May 29, during a visit to Kisumu City ahead of the official handover of newly completed housing units.
Speaking to residents, President Ruto praised Raila’s contribution, saying the donated land will be used to expand housing access in the lakeside city.
“I’m here with Raila, who has generously given us five acres of his personal land to facilitate the construction of affordable homes for the people of Kisumu,” Ruto announced, expressing appreciation for Raila’s support of the initiative.
Raila, in turn, urged the people of Kisumu to embrace the development agenda of the current administration, emphasizing that such collaborations can bring tangible benefits to the region.
The President is in Kisumu to commission Phase One of the LAPFUND Makasembo Affordable Housing Project, a key part of his government’s efforts to tackle the country’s housing deficit.
