President William Ruto has justified the recent arrest of officials linked to Nairobi Hospital, saying the move was necessary to protect the institution from alleged fraud and mismanagement.

Speaking publicly, the Head of State said he acted after receiving appeals from senior doctors and professionals at the hospital who raised concerns over individuals they claimed were attempting to take control of the facility through questionable means.

Ruto described the hospital as one of Kenya’s leading medical institutions and insisted that his administration would not allow it to be compromised. He maintained that those suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities would be removed and taken through the legal process.

The president also dismissed criticism from opposition leaders who have questioned the arrests, accusing them of politicising the matter instead of focusing on substantive issues.

He further rejected claims that the hospital was being sold or interfered with for ulterior motives, stating that the intervention was purely aimed at safeguarding its operations and ensuring it continues to serve the public effectively.
