Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) today hosted the Safaricom Safire Connect Forum in Kisumu County, bringing together over 500 farmers, agri-preneurs, and industry stakeholders for a day focused on agribusiness empowerment.

The forum, which is part of the M-PESA Sokoni, Greater Western Edition, offered participants hands-on learning in financial literacy, digital tools, good agricultural practices and social commerce strategies designed to turn traditional farming into profitable, tech-enabled businesses.

“Safaricom Safire Connect is a response to our customers who wanted platforms where they can get information on how to enhance their businesses.  Today’s forum has empowered about 500 farmers and agripreneurs in Kisumu with knowledge, networks, and practical digital tools that will accelerate their growth in an economy that is being driven by technology. We had farmers from various agricultural disciplines gaining from this platform, which we hope will transform their lives,” said Lucille Aveva, Director, Customer Obsession, Safaricom PLC.

In partnership with DTB bank, Centonomy, TransUnion, E-Mobilis, and Strathmore Business School, the forum featured a range of expert-led sessions covering smart farming, financial wellness, AI insights, and mobile-based marketing. Farmers explored tools for managing crops, accessing credit, and selling their produce using mobile platforms and social media.

At the heart of the forum was DigiFarm, Safaricom’s flagship agri-tech platform, which connects smallholder farmers to certified inputs, financial services, e-learning modules, and ready markets. Additional Safaricom business solutions showcased included Ziidi Money Market Fund, Fuliza ya Biashara, Pochi la Biashara, Taasi Till, and Taasi Pochi, all designed to support business efficiency and financial inclusion.

The Safaricom Safire Connect Forum is among several community-driven activations under the M-PESA Sokoni – Greater Western Edition, a regional celebration of M-PESA @ 18, running from 27th July to 2nd August 2025. The tour features roadshows, delights, and engagement forums, deepening Safaricom’s commitment to empowering communities across Kenya.
