Public transport operator Super Metro Limited has confirmed that one of its vehicles was involved in a road accident along the Thika Superhighway in Juja on Monday, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company explained that the incident occurred when a tuk-tuk suddenly attempted to switch lanes in front of the matatu, which was travelling downhill. At the same time, a motorbike rider who was overtaking nearby tried to swerve to avoid a crash but lost control.
The rider reportedly hit the pavement, was thrown off balance, and fell into the path of the matatu, where he sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Super Metro said it deeply regretted the tragic incident and confirmed that investigations have been taken over by Juja Police Station.
