In Nyeri County, detectives are probing the killing of a woman and her two young children in Kagayu village. The suspect, the husband and father of the victims, was taken into custody after the bodies were discovered inside the family home on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The woman, identified as 30-year-old Mary Nasoro, lived with her two children aged six and two-and-a-half. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who have called for swift justice.
In a separate case in Meru County, a member of the National Police Reserve attached to Tigania was found dead inside his house in Lowangula. The officer, Lawrence Lorot Kolui, is believed to have been shot by unknown assailants who escaped with his service rifle, ammunition, and livestock. Police have launched a manhunt as they try to establish the motive behind the attack.
Meanwhile in Homa Bay County, a long-running land dispute in Asumbi turned deadly when a retired teacher, Joseph Ooko, 61, was killed during a confrontation.
