Applications are now open for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) September 2025 intake, offering thousands of aspiring healthcare professionals an opportunity to join the country’s leading medical training institution. The intake, which officially began on June 23, is targeting students interested in various medical-related courses. For those applying to preservice diploma and certificate programmes, the process will be conducted through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal. Meanwhile, applicants seeking admission to higher diploma programmes, upgrading courses, and short-term training options are required to apply directly through the KMTC admissions portal.
At the same time, students applying to KMTC can also access financial aid through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). The loan application window, which opened recently, is aimed at supporting both new and continuing students, with a focus on easing the burden of tuition and related costs. According to KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch, the HELB application portal is already live, and students have until June 24 to submit their applications. He urged students to take advantage of the funding opportunity and emphasized the importance of accuracy and completeness during the application process.
This latest wave of support follows the allocation of Ksh.500 million by the National Treasury in the April 2025 supplementary budget to finance students enrolled at KMTC. The funds, channeled through HELB, are expected to help vulnerable learners who may otherwise struggle to afford the cost of training. The move aligns with the government’s broader push to strengthen healthcare delivery by producing a steady pipeline of well-trained, well-supported medical personnel across the country.
Both KMTC and HELB have assured students that the application platforms are user-friendly and accessible, but they also warned against waiting until the last minute. As the application period unfolds, the institutions hope to attract a fresh generation of students ready to join Kenya’s healthcare workforce, equipped with skills and supported by financial aid that ensures no one is left behind due to economic hardship.
