Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to visit Marsabit and Isiolo counties on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, as part of his nationwide Jukwaa La Usalama security tours.
The two counties become the 12th and 13th stops that the CS has made in a bid to assess the state of security and service delivery in the regions.
The fact-finding mission aims to strengthen governance structures, improve security mechanisms, and enhance service delivery nationwide.
The tour comes days after a similar engagement in the counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu, where proliferation of illicit brew, counterfeit, and second-generation alcohol, land disputes, and border conflicts emerged as key concerns.
The Marsabit and Isiolo meetings are expected to address key security challenges in the region, key among them banditry and cattle rustling as well as land disputes, and border security.
The CS will also asses status of delivery of key government services, including civil registration.
The meeting will also provide a platform to engage key stakeholders, including National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs), Regional and County Security Committees, local political leaders, and the general public.
So far, CS Murkomen has visited Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi,
Tana River, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Embu, Meru and Tharaka-Nithi counties, in engagements which are set to influence policy and service delivery improvement within NGAO and the Kenya Police.
