Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has declared an unrelenting war against cartels in the health sector, insisting that nothing will derail his reform agenda.

Speaking in Vihiga, Duale said facilities that fraudulently pocketed millions have already been flagged and their details handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“The data we have is not with the people who run to TV studios. I have resolved all disputes in the health sector and doctors across cadres are satisfied. Those who remain unhappy are cartels, and I have forwarded their documents to the DCI,” he said.

On payments owed to hospitals by the Social Health Authority (SHA), Duale assured that every shilling will be settled but only after thorough vetting. He warned facilities against attempts to inflate or manipulate claims.

“We must verify those bills before releasing any money. Anybody seeking payment must present documents for review. We have forensic auditors in place, so do not attempt backdating or doctoring records,” he cautioned.

The CS revealed that SHA claims worth Ksh.3 billion are currently under re-evaluation due to missing documents, while an additional Ksh.2.1 billion remains under close investigation.

Duale reiterated that reforms in the sector are non-negotiable and vowed to hold all players accountable in order to safeguard public funds and restore integrity in healthcare delivery.
