The initial group of Kenyan pilgrims has safely arrived in Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, marking the beginning of what is considered one of the most sacred journeys in Islam.

The pilgrims touched down on Sunday at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where they were warmly received by Kenya’s Consul General, Ambassador Aden Mohamud Mohamed. Officials from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) were also on hand to welcome the delegation.

This year, approximately 4,500 Kenyan Muslims are expected to perform Hajj, fulfilling one of the five central pillars of Islam. The pilgrimage attracts millions of faithful from across the globe to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

A second group of Kenyan pilgrims is scheduled to arrive via Madinah International Airport, from where they will proceed to Makkah to begin their spiritual rites.

The Hajj pilgrimage culminates in the observance of the Day of Araf considered the most significant day of the Hajj followed by Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience to God.
