New developments have cast serious doubt on the official narrative surrounding the tragic death of Albert Ojwang, a teacher and social media personality whose case has stirred public outrage.

A damning report from Mbagathi Hospital, where Ojwang was taken in the early hours of Sunday, states unequivocally that he was already dead upon arrival directly contradicting initial police claims that he was brought in for emergency treatment.

According to the hospital’s documentation, Ojwang’s body was delivered at 2:00 a.m., nearly half an hour after the time police reported he was transported for medical attention. The report paints a harrowing picture of the state in which he arrived: his face severely swollen, limbs covered in bruises, and blood reportedly seeping from his head, mouth, and eyes. Medical staff on duty noted a deep wound in the parieto-occipital region of his skull, suggesting he was the victim of a violent assault not someone in need of urgent but routine care.

“There was nothing we could do,” a nurse stated. “He had already passed. The condition of his body told us that this was not recent he had been dead for some time.”

Even more troubling is the revelation that Ojwang’s body was transported from the Central Police Station not from a scene of injury or distress, but directly from police custody. This detail, paired with the evident injuries and time discrepancies, has ignited public suspicion about what actually happened during the hours before his death.

Police Inspector General Douglas Kanja previously stated that Ojwang was taken to Mbagathi at 1:39 a.m. in need of urgent care. However, the hospital logbook disputes this, confirming the body arrived at 2:00 a.m. with no signs of life. The inconsistencies have intensified scrutiny on the role of law enforcement in the events leading up to Ojwang’s death.

Public anger has continued to mount. On Thursday, demonstrations erupted in Nairobi, bringing parts of the city to a halt as protestors largely young people demanded answers and justice for Ojwang. Many carried placards calling for transparency and accountability, accusing authorities of a cover-up.

With these new revelations, pressure is mounting for an independent investigation to uncover the truth behind the death of a man whose final hours remain clouded in mystery and contradiction.
