Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, continuing a whirlwind U.S. tour aimed at energizing the Kenyan diaspora and building international momentum for his political comeback.

Touching down on Thursday night alongside his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Gachagua received a warm reception from Kenyan community leaders and supporters in the region. His visit to Baltimore marks yet another stop in a multi-city journey across the United States that kicked off on July 10.

“This leg of the journey brings us to Baltimore, where the spirit of Kenyan resilience is alive and well,” said Gachagua in a brief address. “The determination, unity, and cultural pride of our people abroad are a source of strength for our nation.”

Now at the helm of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Gachagua is leveraging his U.S. tour to deepen diaspora engagement ahead of the 2027 General Election. His strategy includes grassroots mobilization and the launch of international party chapters with DCP offices already opened in Seattle and Boston.

In Baltimore, Gachagua is scheduled to meet with Kenyans representing various professional backgrounds, including business, academia, and faith-based organizations. These engagements, his team says, are central to shaping policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of citizens living outside Kenya.

The U.S. tour reflects a growing trend among Kenyan politicians to tap into the influence and resources of the diaspora, long considered a powerful but under-engaged constituency.

With more stops planned in the coming days, Gachagua’s outreach campaign signals a renewed push to position himself as a formidable force ahead of the next political contest.
