Kibera will come to a standstill on Sunday as Kibera Black Stars lock horns with their neighbours and long-time rivals, Darajani Gogo, in one of the most charged fixtures of the National Super League calendar.

After going two matches without a victory against Equity and Soy United Black Stars head coach Iddi Badi says the team is eager to reset and return to winning form. He stressed that this derby carries extra weight, not just for points, but for pride.

“We need this win. The last two results were not what we wanted, and the players know how big this derby is,” Badi said, expressing belief in his squad’s preparation and mentality.

But the coach is under no illusions about what awaits them at Vapor Grounds in Ngong. He noted that Darajani Gogo’s grit and individual talent make them a difficult opponent, and his players must remain disciplined from start to finish.

Even so, Black Stars draw confidence from last season’s meetings, where they picked up four points from Darajani Gogo an encouraging record ahead of the showdown.

“Darajani Gogo are strong and well-organised, so it won’t be simple. Yes, we have a few injuries, but we trust the team, and last season’s results give us belief,” Badi added.

All signs point to a fiery derby as both sides fight for bragging rights and crucial NSL points.
