Tragedy struck Michacha Village in Samba Sub-location, Suba South, after a swarm of bees descended on a group of playing children, leaving one pupil dead and seven others injured.

According to local authorities, the children were reportedly playing close to their homes when they are believed to have disturbed the bees, triggering the attack. Area Chief Lucas Ocholla said the young learners were quickly rushed to Magunga Level Four Hospital as villagers tried to fend off the insects.

Medical staff treated seven of the children and later discharged them to their families. However, one Grade One pupil, who had suffered extensive stings, was referred to St. Camillus Sori Hospital for specialized care. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries.

Her body has since been moved to the St. Camillus Hospital mortuary as investigations into the incident continue.
