Ladnan Hospital in Pangani, Nairobi, has moved to clarify its ownership, distancing itself from the Social Health Authority (SHA) chairperson, Dr. Abdi Mohammed.

The facility is now fully under Metropolitan Hospital Holdings Limited, according to the group’s Chief Executive Officer, Kanyenje Gakombe. He explained that Dr. Mohammed, one of Ladnan’s original founders, sold off all his shares in July 2023, formally ending his involvement with the hospital.

“Ladnan Hospital Limited in Pangani is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Metropolitan Hospital Holdings Limited, which in turn is wholly owned by TMG, a public unlisted company with over 500 shareholders,” Gakombe said.

He emphasized that following the sale, Dr. Mohammed no longer holds any position whether as a shareholder, director, or employee within Ladnan Hospital or the wider Metropolitan Group.

The clarification comes in the wake of growing concerns over alleged fraudulent claims linked to Ladnan, which sparked questions about a possible conflict of interest given Dr. Mohammed’s current role at SHA.

On Monday, August 25, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale addressed the matter, stressing that no conflict of interest exists between Dr. Mohammed’s leadership at SHA and the hospital’s operations, given his complete exit from Ladnan more than a year ago.
