The Ministry of Education has unveiled the official Term 3 academic calendar, setting the pace for the final stretch of the 2025 school year.
According to the circular from the Office of the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, the third term began on Monday, August 25, and will run until Friday, October 24, 2025, a short but decisive nine weeks of learning. Unlike the previous terms, Term 3 is primarily exam-focused, with national assessments scheduled across all levels.
Learners will also enjoy two mid-term breaks courtesy of public holidays. Mazingira Day will be marked on Friday, October 10, while Mashujaa Day falls on Monday, October 20, creating two three-day weekends within the school term.
Assessment season kicks in immediately after schools close:
- Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for Grade 6 pupils runs from October 27–30.
- Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) will follow from October 27–November 6, covering nine days.
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams for Form Four students will start on November 3 and end on November 21, stretching over three weeks.
Officials say these evaluations are not only crucial for learners’ academic progression under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) but also mark a key milestone for transition to the next stages of learning.
Once the assessments conclude, schools will break for the long December holiday starting October 27, 2025, with classes set to resume on January 2, 2026 a 10-week holiday period.
