In a passionate appeal for unity and strategic diplomacy, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged African envoys to take the lead in reshaping both the African Union and the global financial architecture.
Speaking during a high-level engagement with African Heads of Mission in Brasilia, Mudavadi called for a stronger, more coordinated diplomatic front to push for reforms that align with Africa’s long-term development blueprint Agenda 2063.
The meeting, hosted by Ambassador Martin Mbeng, Dean of the African diplomatic corps in Brazil, brought together representatives from 35 African nations. It provided a platform for the leaders to reflect on the continent’s collective goals and the steps needed to position Africa more prominently on the world stage.
Mudavadi, who also holds the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs docket, emphasized that Africa can no longer afford to be a bystander in shaping global policies. He challenged diplomats to confront systems that have historically sidelined the continent and to champion a future rooted in fairness and inclusivity.
“Africa must present a unified voice in the global arena. Our time to drive the change we seek is now,” he said.
Accompanied by Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil, Dr. Andrew Karanja, Mudavadi underscored the urgency of elevating Africa’s standing in international institutions and ensuring the continent’s interests are no longer overlooked.
