A businessman suspected of involvement in the killing of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were has been released on bail, as investigations into the high-profile case continue.
Nahashon Aroko was granted a Sh300,000 cash bail by JKIA Magistrate Irene Gichobi on Thursday. As part of the bail terms, Aroko was required to surrender his passport and provide details of individuals who can be reached as his contact persons.
The court also imposed several restrictions on the suspect. Aroko is prohibited from making any contact with witnesses or other parties linked to the case. In a significant move, he has also been barred from traveling to Homa Bay County—the region the late MP represented.
Additionally, Aroko must report to the investigating officer at Nairobi Area every two days. The frequent reporting is intended to ensure he remains available for questioning and contributes any information or evidence relevant to the case.
The matter is set to return to court for mention on June 3.
