Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has downplayed the recent concerns surrounding the reported withdrawal of security from former CS Justin Muturi, describing the process as a routine adjustment rather than a politically motivated action.

Responding to public discourse and media speculation, Murkomen clarified that his office had not received any formal complaint from Muturi regarding changes to his security detail. He insisted that the matter remains within the purview of the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja.

“That is a simple and small matter that should be handled by the IG. If it’s escalated to me, I will address it as per the law,” he said.

Murkomen further explained that adjusting the number of officers assigned to former public officials is standard practice, driven by policy and operational demands within the security sector.

“We scale down security assigned to public officers once they vacate office. It’s normal and it applies to all even me, if I leave office,” he noted.

The CS emphasized that such decisions are made objectively and not influenced by political considerations.

“Security officers operate within the law and are not incidenced by politics,” he asserted.

His remarks come amid public interest in the security arrangements for former top government officials, but Murkomen maintained that these are administrative matters handled through laid out procedures, not political maneuvering
