Ndumberi Stadium in Kiambu County fell silent on Thursday morning as crowds from across the country converged to honour the life of gospel star Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, widely known as Betty Bayo.
Bayo, who touched many with her music and ministry, died on November 10, 2025, while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. She had been battling an advanced form of blood cancer (leukemia), a condition that worsened rapidly in her final days.
According to her family, the disease progressed more aggressively than expected, forcing doctors to manage severe complications before ultimately losing the fight to save her.
The heartfelt farewell reflected the impact she made in the gospel industry and the deep void her passing leaves behind.
