Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has finally addressed the growing speculation about his strained relationship with President William Ruto and his silence during the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, March 18, Nyoro revealed that his political ties with Ruto took a hit in October 2024, around the time when Gachagua was facing impeachment proceedings. He disclosed that their last political discussion occurred before that period, subtly confirming a rift between them.
Nyoro, who had remained notably quiet during Gachagua’s ouster, explained his position, stating, “You’ve asked about the relationship between the president and the former deputy president. I respect every leader. While I may have opinions on certain decisions, I don’t believe it has been my role to comment publicly.”

Following Gachagua’s removal, a wave of political restructuring saw Nyoro among those sidelined. He was stripped of his influential position as Chair of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee, a move that many interpreted as a political purge targeting those perceived as disloyal. Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi was appointed as his replacement.
Nyoro disclosed that his removal came as a surprise, as no one in his coalition had engaged him in any discussion regarding his role or areas of improvement. “No one from my coalition ever approached me about my position or suggested any changes. I found out about my own fate the same way the public did through newspapers,” he stated.
Despite his disappointment, Nyoro emphasized that his frustrations were not about losing the chairmanship but rather the manner in which the decision was made. He expressed feelings of betrayal, particularly considering his unwavering support for the Kenya Kwanza coalition during the 2022 General Election.
The Kiharu MP remains uncertain about the exact reasons for his removal, as he was never formally given any explanation. However, his recent remarks paint a picture of deep-seated tensions within the ruling coalition, raising questions about the future of his political journey.
