What began as a routine patrol in the stillness of the early morning hours ended in bloodshed for three police officers in Nakuru’s Free Area.
At precisely 1:29 a.m. on Monday, gunfire shattered the calm as a gang of unidentified attackers opened fire on the officers. The ambush proved fatal for one officer from Bondeni Police Station, who died at the scene. His two colleagues, injured in the hail of bullets, were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital, where they continue to receive medical care.
By daybreak, security forces had already made arrests in connection with the attack. Among the evidence recovered was an AK-47 rifle, suspected to have been used during the assault.

County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara confirmed the developments, stating that efforts to uncover the motive behind the attack and bring all those responsible to justice are ongoing.
This latest incident has raised fresh concerns over officer safety and the growing boldness of criminal gangs operating in urban centers.
