A Pakistani national is in police custody after allegedly defrauding unsuspecting members of the public in a series of fraudulent schemes.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect, identified as Ahmad Shabbir, was rescued from an angry mob in Nakuru after residents attempted to lynch him. Officers from Nakuru North Sub-County rushed to the scene and saved him from the crowd, though two of his alleged accomplices managed to escape.
Investigators revealed that Shabbir had previously been charged with obtaining money by false pretenses. He had been out on bond and was required to report to Ahero Police Station on August 20, 2025, as part of his bail terms.
The DCI confirmed that he is now back in custody pending arraignment, while a manhunt has been launched for his fleeing associates.
