Kenya Police FC will be out to prove a point when they take on Ethiopian Coffee FC on Monday in a crucial CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 fixture in Dar es Salaam.

The law enforcers head into the match on the back of a mixed start one win and one loss and captain David “Cheche” Ochieng says the team has taken key lessons from both results.

“We’ve won one and lost one, but the experience has been valuable. This tournament is not just about advancing; it’s also preparation for bigger assignments ahead, including the CAF Champions League,” said the skipper on Sunday.

Cheche acknowledged that the squad is still building chemistry, with coaches rotating players to test combinations. That, he said, makes it difficult to predict line-ups, but he remains confident they have studied their opponents well. “Each team is still trying to settle on the best 11, but we’ve analysed Ethiopian Coffee’s style and we’re ready,” he added.

Police FC kicked off their campaign in style with a dominant win, only to stumble in their second outing against Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars. Reflecting on the loss, Cheche noted missed opportunities and a tricky pitch as costly factors. “We created chances but didn’t convert, and they punished our mistakes. That’s an area we’ll correct going into this next match,” he said.

With qualification hopes still within reach, the showdown with Ethiopian Coffee is shaping up as a defining test of Police FC’s character and ambition in this year’s Kagame Cup.
