President William Ruto has voiced optimism that ongoing engagements with international leaders in France will deliver tangible outcomes for Africa, particularly in securing affordable financing, accelerating development, and strengthening the continent’s voice in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Speaking ahead of the G7 Summit, where he is attending alongside several African heads of state and government representatives, Ruto said the discussions present an important opportunity to advance Africa’s priorities on the global stage.
The President expressed confidence that the continent’s concerns and proposals would receive greater recognition from world leaders, paving the way for practical solutions to long-standing economic challenges.
Among the key issues Kenya is championing are increased access to concessional funding and a stronger role for African nations in shaping policies around rapidly evolving technologies, including AI.
Ruto emphasized that Africa is uniquely positioned to contribute to global progress, citing its abundant natural resources, expanding population, growing consumer markets, and vast renewable energy potential.
He argued that the continent should not merely be viewed as a beneficiary of global initiatives but as a strategic partner capable of helping address major international challenges such as climate change, food production, labour mobility, and economic growth.
According to the President, Africa’s contributions in these areas make it an essential player in future global development conversations, and he expects the summit discussions to reflect that reality through concrete commitments and policy proposals.
