Sports Fund CEO Nur Ibrahim has expressed growing frustration with several national sports federations, citing ongoing issues of poor coordination and non-compliance. His remarks came during the media launch of the ABSA Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour held in Nairobi.

According to Ibrahim, his office continues to face bottlenecks caused by disorganized planning from various federations, with inconsistent or conflicting submissions derailing the efficient flow of operations.

“It’s surprising that we still struggle with basic coordination—simple planning documents are submitted late or contradict one another,” he remarked.

However, Ibrahim was quick to single out Athletics Kenya (AK) for praise, commending the body for its professional approach and organization. “Athletics Kenya has consistently met expectations. If I were grading them, I’d give them an A,” he added.

Beyond administrative issues, the CEO turned his attention to the state of sports infrastructure in the country. He warned against the trend of politically motivated stadium projects that fail to meet technical standards or community needs.

“We’re seeing stadiums mushrooming across the country, but without proper consultation with technical experts, many of them risk becoming underutilized white elephants,” he cautioned.

Ibrahim urged decision-makers to prioritize functionality and sustainability in future developments, emphasizing that investment in infrastructure must be guided by expertise not politics.
