Tragedy struck the quiet village of Nyakiambi in Molo, Nakuru County, after a 16-year-old boy confessed to killing his mother following a heated confrontation over family matters.
Authorities say the teen, identified only by his initials AG, had dropped out of school and was living with his mother when a disagreement turned deadly. According to a police report from Elburgon Police Station, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon, shortly after the boy confronted his mother, demanding to know the identity of his biological father.
When the mother declined to answer, the boy allegedly attacked her, striking her on the head multiple times and killing her on the spot.
The crime came to light on Sunday when the victim’s brother alerted police, suspecting something was wrong. Officers from Elburgon Police Station, along with detectives from Molo DCI, responded immediately. They arrived at the home to find the woman dead inside the house.
Investigations revealed that the minor had attempted to conceal the crime by digging a shallow grave in an adjacent structure within the family compound, allegedly intending to bury the body early Sunday morning.
The boy was arrested the same day and is currently in police custody. The body of the deceased was transferred to Elburgon Level IV Hospital morgue, where a postmortem will be conducted.
The incident has left the community in shock, raising concerns about mental health and domestic conflicts among youths.
