Police in Eldoret have intercepted a consignment of ethanol valued at about Ksh.500,000, intensifying a crackdown on illicit brews in Uasin Gishu County.

The 10 jerricans of ethanol were unearthed in the Annex area, along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway, after officers acted on a tip-off from residents. According to County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi, the haul had been buried within the compound of an unfinished house.

Mwanthi disclosed that this was not the first time the property had been linked to illegal activities. Just a month earlier, officers raided the same compound and seized illicit alcohol.

“This substance is a serious health hazard to the public, and we will not relent in our fight against illicit brews,” Mwanthi cautioned.

No arrests were made during the latest operation, as no one was found at the premises. The police boss has urged the owner of the property to report to authorities as investigations continue, warning that officers are closing in on the suspects behind the stash.
