Lands, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has hit back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of peddling falsehoods and belittling fellow leaders instead of presenting a clear agenda for the Mt. Kenya region.

Speaking in Kandara constituency, Murang’a County, Wahome dismissed Gachagua’s weekend jibe referring to her as a “flower girl” in President William Ruto’s Cabinet, branding the remark petty and disrespectful.

“Namwambia Rigathi Gachagua, hii siasa ya kuingilia viongozi wengine si ya uungwana. Tafuta kura kwa kusema yale utafanya. I have not sat with him, I am not in his party, and I serve all Kenyans as Lands Minister,” Wahome stated.

The CS said her clashes with Gachagua date back to his days as Deputy President, alleging he had consistently undermined her work and attempted to derail her role in government.

“Even when we served in government together, he never supported me. He fought me at every turn. I will not allow him to continue dragging my name down,” she declared.

Wahome outlined ongoing projects under her docket, including affordable housing schemes, modern market construction, and the completion of Kandara Level 4 Bildad Kaggia Hospital, saying her focus remains on service delivery.

In a defiant warning, Wahome said she would no longer remain silent as Gachagua takes aim at her leadership.

“Rigathi Gachagua anafikiria atanitisha. He has crossed my line. If he wants a fight, it is now between me and him,” Wahome said, adding that the former DP’s claims that she lacks influence in government are misplaced.

She also dismissed the “one-term” campaign rhetoric pushed by some leaders, insisting that President Ruto will secure re-election in 2027 with overwhelming support.

Wahome urged Gachagua, who now leads the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), to show respect for his peers and seek backing based on his vision rather than constant attacks.
