Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United will face off at Mbaraki Sports Club on Thursday in the first leg of the SportPesa League promotion-relegation playoff.
The two sides are battling for the final slot in the top flight, with the winner on aggregate securing league status while the losing team will compete in the National Super League next season.
Sharks, who finished bottom of the 18-team top flight, are fighting to retain their place against Mombasa United, who finished third in the National Super League.
Sharks coach William Muluya has called on his players to remain focused and disciplined, urging them to put recent off-field issues aside.
Mombasa United coach Abdulhamid Moallin, meanwhile, has prepared his squad for the challenge of facing an experienced top-flight side and wants his team to make the most of home advantage.
The return leg is scheduled for October 6 in Nairobi. Both teams have also been cleared to field their newly registered players.
