The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has handed down tough penalties to four clubs across the Women’s National Super League (NSL) and Division One after uncovering a series of serious rule violations and irregularities during recent fixtures.

In the Women’s NSL, Gene Queens FC has been penalized for illegally fielding an ineligible player during their match against Eldoret Falcons FC (Match No. 112). Investigations revealed that Irene Yego, a registered player with McMillan Queens FC, impersonated Gene Queens’ Evalyne Ayieta using a falsified player license. Following a formal protest by Eldoret Falcons, FKF awarded the match to them with a 2-0 scoreline. As a result, Yego has been banned from all football activities for one year.

Meanwhile, Marafiki FC, a club in the FKF Division One League, faces disciplinary action over two separate incidents that occurred on March 23, 2025.

In their fixture against Bumbani FC, Marafiki fielded Samuel Sichenje Wattang’a, who was listed under a slightly altered name “Samuel Watiang’a.” FKF found that the player was already officially registered with Bungoma Stars FC and had not undergone a legitimate transfer. The match result has been overturned in Bumbani’s favor with a 2-0 walkover, and Wattang’a has been slapped with a 12-month suspension for misrepresentation and falsifying registration details.

In a separate violation from the same matchday, FKF reports that Marafiki FC included Justin Okurumi, a suspended player, on the substitutes’ list for their game against Ruiru Hot Stars FC a clear breach of federation regulations.

The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee emphasized that these actions are part of ongoing efforts to uphold integrity and transparency in Kenyan football.
