Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua now claims there is a plot to have him killed and he’s pointing the finger directly at Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja.
In a fiery letter sent Tuesday, the former Deputy President accuses the IG of deliberately stripping him of security to make him an easy target. “You have purposefully withdrawn my security in a clear thought-out scheme and backward conspiracy to make me vulnerable to an organized criminal gang in collaboration with the police,” the letter reads.
Since being kicked out of office in October 2024, Gachagua says he has survived several attempts on his life. He alleges there have also been plots to raid his homes in Nairobi, Nyeri, and other locations plans he claims involve individuals either known to the police or protected by them.
He also accused NIS operatives of stalking his family using unmarked cars with disguised number plates, calling it a violation of their right to privacy.
“NIS operatives trail and stalk me and my immediate family members in unmarked cars or clandestine number plates. This is an affront to right to privacy,” he wrote.
