The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has unveiled plans for a major recruitment exercise set to take place across the country in October 2025.
According to a notice issued by the military, the drive will target several categories of service, including General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets both Regular and Graduate Specialist Officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen and Women, as well as Defence Forces Constables.
“The Kenya Defence Forces is pleased to announce to the public the recruitment of General Service Officer Cadet Regular, General Service Officer Cadet Graduate, Specialist Officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen and Women, and Defence Forces Constables. The recruitment will take place in October 2025,” the statement read.
KDF stressed that the process is entirely free of charge and warned that anyone attempting to influence the exercise through bribery or corruption will face arrest and prosecution. Members of the public are encouraged to report any malpractice to the nearest police station, military camp, or through the hotlines 0726419706/0726419709.
Eligibility requirements remain strict. For GSO Cadets (Regular), candidates must have at least a mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE, with a minimum of C+ in English, Mathematics, and one science subject. Graduate Cadets must hold a bachelor’s degree in specific fields from a recognized institution, while Specialist Officers are expected to possess professional qualifications alongside relevant work experience.
Training will also vary depending on the category. Regular GSO Cadets will undergo a three-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Military, Security, and Defence Studies. Graduate Cadets, on the other hand, will complete specialized training before deployment.
The Defence Forces said the exercise is part of its commitment to bringing in new talent to strengthen Kenya’s security apparatus and serve the country with honor and discipline.
