Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has continued his outreach to the Ukambani region, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive development and warning against distractions driven by political rivalry.

While addressing residents in Mwala, Machakos County, during an empowerment event, Kindiki emphasized that no part of Kenya would be left behind in the government’s development agenda. He noted that Ukambani, like every other region, is entitled to meaningful investment aimed at transforming livelihoods.

“This government is serving the entire nation equally. No region is more important than the other,” he affirmed.

Over the past week, the Deputy President has visited several constituencies including Machakos Town, Masinga, Kaiti, Kangundo, Kitui East, Kitui South, Kilome, and Kitui Central engaging local communities through similar empowerment forums.

In each stop, Kindiki cautioned local leaders against falling into the trap of divisive politics, urging them instead to rally behind the development-focused agenda of President William Ruto. He underscored that political affiliations should not be a barrier to service delivery.

“This is not the season for politics. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and work together to lift the nation. Even those in opposition have a duty to contribute to Kenya’s progress,” Kindiki stated.

He hinted at plans to reach out to former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, emphasizing the need for regional collaboration in advancing Ukambani’s development priorities. Kindiki said he was already working closely with local leaders and would deepen such consultations to ensure no area is left behind.

Calling for a united national front, the Deputy President said Kenya’s future rests on stability and collective progress. He pointed to the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda as the vehicle through which lasting change will be delivered augmented by grassroots empowerment programmes like the one he is currently spearheading.

“I am committed to serving under President Ruto’s leadership, and I will not be distracted. The people elected us to deliver, not to play politics,” he said. “Empty rhetoric and tribal politics are taking this country backward.”

In Mwala specifically, Kindiki noted that the government had earmarked funds for the construction of the Mwala–Kangundo Road, expansion of local water projects, the rollout of affordable housing units in Masii town, and support for technical training institutes all aimed at creating opportunities and boosting economic activity in the region.
