The Interior and National Administration CS Kipchumba Murkomen has said he will continue to voice the challenges police face as they discharge their duties to the public.
Reacting to persistent criticism in the media, the CS said defending the police is not defending corruption. ” I will continue to voice the challenges the police are going through, even as I continue to call on them to shun corruption.” The CS said as he addressed the 44th Jukwaa la Usalama town hall meeting in Mandera town.
The CS added that the purpose of Jukwaa la Usalama, where the issue was raised in many of the counties, is to hear the views of the officers so that solutions can be worked on. “Our police officers have a right to speak about their challenges. Let’s stop mocking them. Not every challenge is corruption.”
The CS said, courtesy of his engagement today with Governor Mohamed Khalif and other Mandera leaders, the issue of water shortage in security camps, which was raised by officers on the ground, will be jointly addressed through a collaboration with the county government.
