Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku has pledged to take a proactive role in delivering efficient government services and building public trust in state institutions.
While making his first public address since being sworn in during an Easter Sunday service in Chuka Igambang’ombe, Tharaka Nithi County, Ruku said his ministry would prioritize practical, citizen-centered reforms. “We will ensure that the government serves the people effectively and efficiently. I will personally take charge of ensuring that our systems work,” he said.
Rather than focusing on ceremony, Ruku used the opportunity to spotlight local developments as proof of the government’s renewed focus on service delivery. Among the projects he mentioned were the ongoing Ítúgúrúrú-Mate Road and the Natasha Makena Hospital a fully funded health facility intended to serve the region.
“The country was in bad shape when President Ruto took over. But today, projects that had stalled are now back on track,” he said. “The President and his deputy are working tirelessly to ensure that every part of the country benefits from development.”
While acknowledging political tensions, Ruku emphasized the need for collective responsibility and long-term commitment. “These are not easy tasks, but with a shared sense of purpose and prayers from the Church, we can achieve more,” he told congregants.
He further defended the government’s development record and appealed for continued support as the administration seeks to fulfill its promises. “If a government is delivering, then it’s only fair for the people to vote it back so it can finish what it started,” Ruku said.
He also warned the public against being swayed by political detractors, stating, “Some individuals seek only to discredit the government without offering viable alternatives.”
