Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) stamped their authority in the Kenya Cup quarterfinals on Sunday with a dominant 3-0 victory over Trailblazers at the Nyayo National Stadium, signaling their intent to go all the way in the inaugural tournament.

KPA, who finished as runners-up in the regular season, put on a clinical display to claim the match in straight sets—25-16, 25-18, 25-20 and book a place in the semifinals. Despite the convincing win, the team remains grounded.

“There’s still room to improve on our defense, and we’ll work on that before the semifinals,” said a member of the KPA coaching staff, acknowledging areas they aim to fine-tune ahead of the next challenge.

With this win, KPA joins Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and General Service Unit (GSU) in the men’s semifinals slated for July 12 and 13.

GSU, who topped the regular season standings, had to dig deep to fend off a spirited KAPU side. The four-set encounter saw both teams trade blows in a tactical showdown before GSU ultimately prevailed 3-1 (28-26, 26-28, 25-15, 25-17).

Earlier in the day, KDF became the first team to punch their semifinal ticket. After dropping the first set, they bounced back strongly to defeat Administration Police 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-20). The match highlighted KDF’s resilience and squad depth, as they turned the tide with aggressive play and solid teamwork.

With the semifinals now set, the stage is primed for high-stakes clashes among the country’s volleyball heavyweights, each gunning for a place in the Kenya Cup final
