Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has claimed that a number of tax measures in the Finance Bill 2023 are targeted at Mt Kenya businesses.

In a statement, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party co-principal accused the Kenya Kwanza regime of plotting to undermine the Mt Kenya region both politically and economically to ensure that there is no significant political competition from the region.
“Many of the tax measures contained in the Finance Bill are unreasonable and clearly directed not only at the nation but particularly at Mt Kenya businesses.
Karua also claims that the wrangles in Jubilee Party are sponsored by the government aimed at killing political competition from Mt Kenya.
“It is apparent that the destabilization of the Jubilee Party and the destruction of established political leaders of the region is a do-or-die agenda for the Kenya Kwanza regime sponsored by the highest level of the Kenya Kwanza leadership to ensure that Mt Kenya has no serious political party to challenge anti-Mt Kenya policies,” she added.
“The vilification of our Azimio chairman, Uhuru Kenyatta, is part of this evil scheme to subdue a whole community and region. This is totally unnecessary.”
Addressing journalists in the same event where Karua spoke on Monday, June 5, 2023, embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni asked the Kenya Kwanza regime to withdraw the Finance Bill in totality “or face resistance”.
“We demand the immediate withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2023 in its entirety. The unwarranted and uncalled-for attacks on Uhuru Kenyatta the Azimio chairman must stop,” Kioni said.
“We will resist Kenya Kwanza regime economic policies that are designed to oppress, deprive or curtail economic opportunities of any of the communities that make up Kenya.”
Kioni also accused the government of profiling the Mt Kenya youth and terming them as Mungiki, an outlawed criminal sect.
