Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya claims he was the target of a dramatic and violent ambush while travelling through the Kisima area along the Isiolo-Nanyuki highway.
In a series of social media posts, Salasya recounted a harrowing ordeal in which his convoy was allegedly intercepted by heavily armed individuals posing as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). He said the group, travelling in multiple vehicles, opened fire on his car, disabled it by shooting out the tires, and forcibly disarmed his security personnel.
“This was not random,” Salasya stated online. “They claimed to be DCI officers, but they were armed to the teeth, and their mission was clearly premeditated. My bodyguard managed to help me escape into the nearby bushes.”
According to the MP, the attackers who he described as carrying at least 15 AK-47 rifles forcefully removed him from the vehicle and transported him to an undisclosed location. While in custody, Salasya claims he was confronted with a threatening message he says he cannot yet reveal due to security concerns.
Salasya was reportedly en route to Nanyuki from political engagements in Meru and Isiolo when the incident unfolded. He questioned the timing and intent behind the attack, suggesting that the operation was “well-orchestrated” and politically motivated.
“Why now? Who sent them?” he asked, adding, “I have avoided confrontations with the government. So why am I being targeted?”
Law enforcement agencies have responded by confirming that an investigation is underway. However, they firmly denied any involvement in the incident.
The motive behind the alleged abduction remains unclear.
