Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has warned hired political goons operations in Homabay and other parts of the country, that they will be prosecuted individually. In particularly, he lauded Governor Gladys Wanga’s swift action to deal with a county staff accused of hiring goons to assault a journalist over a story. He also called for political tolerance ahead of planning by-elections in November.
He faulted the smuggling of contraband goods into the country through the porous borders and announced an enhanced border patrols approach through a Multi Agency Team led by the coast guards.
Further, he expressed concerns with rising numbers of cases of defilement and SGBV that go unreported, calling for a collaborative approach in dealing with the menaces and ensure justice is served to two victims.
He waded on the alleged harassment of fishermen in Lake Victoria, noting that a meeting between Presidents Ruto and Museveni sought to address the matter.
