The UDA Party has expressed confidence of victory in the November 27th Malava by election days after its candidate David Ndakwa was cleared by the Independent Electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC).
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said it is now all systems go since the party has a formidable candidate to face Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K)’s Seth Panyako and DCP’s Edgar Busiega in what has been termed as in a tightly contested race to replace the late MP Malulu Injendi.
“I have faith in the people of Malava and I have a strong believe that you will help us get a good leader in David Ndakwa.” said Mudavadi.
“Ndakwa, you have to work closely with all leaders from this region. Look for brothers who will give you the right advise, get more friends and good people on board. This is my advice to you.” added Mudavadi.
On Sunday when he attended a service at Tumbeni African Church of the Holy Spirit in Malava, Mudavadi rallied six Members of Parliament from Kakamega county in throwing their support behind Ndakwa.
The MPs were Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Tindi Mwale (Butere), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Benard Shinali (Ikolomani), Nabii Nabwera (Lugari) and Titus Khamala (Lurambi) all who vowed to campaign for the UDA candidate in the mini polls.
“The people of Kabras and Malava, let us be focused. This by election should unite us more than ever as a people of this region. Malava should show the rest of Western Kenya the direction. Let us listen to our leaders, we should not despise them by being misled by the opposition which does not carry any message of inspiration towards the future of our people.” warned Mudavadi.
“Let us not be swayed by propaganda and cheap political rhetoric. Our friend here, Farouk Kibet (aide to President Ruto) has come to help us drum support for the UDA candidate, he will not vote in Malava, neither myself Musalia, I will not vote in Malava. I have not registered as a voter in Malava. The people of Malava will vote in the leader of their choice. My plea is that when you see us here, together with the leaders who have spoken today we have good intentions to make sure you vote in a good leader by making the right decision.” added Mudavadi.
Mudavadi appreciated the gesture by the UDA aspirants who ran against Ndakwa in the party primaries who have demonstrated solidarity to rally behind Ndakwa as the party’s choice for the November contest.
Mudavadi said the three; Ryan Injendi Malulu, Leonard Shimaka and Simon Kangwana are a good example in the quest to strengthen internal political party democracy and the future of politics in the country.
“The son of former Malava MP, Ryan Injendi Malulu, Leonard Shimaka and Simon Kangwana have proved to be loyal members of our party UDA. Early September and I am standing here as a witness, they met the Party Leader President William Ruto with a view to building a common front towards the party’s primaries and the upcoming by election. True to their word, they have agreed to rally behind Ndakwa who is now our candidate following his victory in the party nominations., I want to assure the people of Malava and Western Kenya, personally I am going to walk the journey with them, I will be their advocate before the President who is our party leader and make sure their good deeds, honesty and loyalty is rewarded within the party’s framework.” noted Mudavadi.
“The three have also spoken and individually declared their support for President William Ruto. Nobody has coerced them; they have joined us for the Sunday service to show solidarity with the UDA candidate and President Ruto’s administration. This is a sign of maturity in the politics of our region. They have shown unity of purpose within the youthful political class, and I urge them to remain united, walk together, work together and show our people the direction moving into the future.” added Mudavadi.

Mudavadi said the leader who takes the mantle to lead the people of Malava must reflect the national image, pick up from where the late Malulu left and steer the development agenda for the constituency to a greater front.
He said while UDA believes in Ndakwa’s candidature, he must be ready to walk with President Ruto and other leaders and work for the people of Malava and Kenya at large.
“If you get the blessings of the people of Malava, sit with those who were advisors of the Late Malulu Injendi, reflect on what was his CDF program, plan pick up the projects he had initiated consolidate seek for support and ensure they are completed. Look around and see what can be your flagship programs and projects, work out well and deliver. Let us not be the kind of leaders once elected you disown what your fellow leader had started that is to benefit the people.” said Mudavadi.
“Malulu Injendi had a plan, he had a strategy and you Ndakwa supported him, you walked with him as you witnessed what he was doing for the people of Malava, so the first call of action is to ensure you finish what he has started.” Mudavadi added.
Mudavadi said the people of Malava like all other Kenyans deserve a considerable share of the national cake and as the patron for UDA campaigns his message remains that they should work to be in government by casting their vote to the candidate who will fulfill the desires of their late legislator.
“The late Malulu had a clear plan for this constituency. He championed for the new administrative units; Shivanga, Shirungu/Mugai, and Chesero divisions and additional sub-counties. He prioritized water projects, education, and reviving the sugarcane sector. David Ndakwa will pick up this mantle and ensure this vision becomes a reality,” said Mudavadi.
The Prime CS assured the people of Malava that the earlier discussions held with boda boda operators, teachers, and women’s groups, will be actualized by implementing the commitments made during the engagements.
He reminded Malava residents that their strength lies in numbers, emphasizing the importance of participating in the ongoing mass voter registration exercise once the by elections are over. This he said should be reflected in the whole of Western Kenya as the region eyes the bigger picture post Ruto’s regime.
“The data from this registration will determine whether Malava qualifies for another constituency. If we don’t register in large numbers, we lose that opportunity,” he said.
President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, UDA National Vice Chairperson Kelvin Lunani, UDA Malava Constituency candidate David Ndakwa, a host of Members of County Assembly and other local leaders were present.
