Police have seized 240 cartons of suspected counterfeit alcohol and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps after raiding a rental house in Ngurubani town in Mwea sub-county, Kirinyaga county, 260 litres of ethanol was stored in 13 jerricans , a roll of KRA sticker, two pressing machines and 5956 bottles and three bags of assorted bottles were seized.
The police commander of kirinyaga county Rebuen Muli stated that this business is taking place in a residential area where no one can suspect even a police officer on patrol.
He also stated that there packaged in recycled bottles of common brands and re-sealed for the market, according to the police commander anyone found culpable will not be spared.
“We are looking for the suspect who is at large, if someone wants to do the business , there are correct procedures, we will sustain crackdown against rogue traders untill we have them out, “of kirinyaga Muli noted.
The cartons of fake liquor and all items seized were takem to wanguru police station in two land cruisers.
