Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has poured cold water on the ambitions of political leaders eyeing a victory over the current administration in the 2027 General Election, asserting that the Ruto–Raila alliance is too strong to be unseated.
Speaking on Monday during a boda boda empowerment event held at the Siaya KMTC grounds, Kindiki dismissed those plotting to challenge the partnership between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga, saying the duo’s cooperation has delivered tangible progress for Kenyans.
“We respect both Raila Odinga and William Ruto. They are working together and leading this country in the right direction. The future of Kenya is built on broad-based leadership,” Kindiki said.
Taking a swipe at emerging political aspirants, the DP said they were engaging in political showmanship without a realistic plan. “Some are busy performing theatrics claiming they will defeat Ruto and Raila in 2027 how possible is it to defeat such a powerful combination?” he posed.
Kindiki praised the partnership for driving key development projects in the Lake Victoria region, citing major investments that have boosted the blue economy and improved the livelihoods of fisherfolk. He revealed that the government had secured Ksh3.2 billion in grants to enhance beach management, fish farming, and tourism around the lake.
“The scale of development witnessed in Siaya is unprecedented since independence. This is the first administration to make significant investments in the blue economy to uplift fish farmers with Raila Odinga’s support,” Kindiki said.
He reiterated that President Ruto’s government remains focused on executing its nationwide development agenda, assuring residents that the Lake Region would continue to benefit from projects aimed at creating sustainable economic growth.
