Authorities are investigating a string of unrelated incidents reported across the country over the past few days, ranging from sudden deaths and tragic accidents to a mob justice killing.

In Nairobi’s Kinoo area, a 58-year-old British national collapsed and died after withdrawing money from an ATM. Andrew Paul Hayward, who was visiting a friend, reportedly fell while still inside the ATM lobby on the night of July 21. Witnesses say he had just completed a transaction when he collapsed.

His friend arrived shortly afterward and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. The body was taken to Chiromo Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Detectives are handling the case, and officials from the British High Commission have been notified and are assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, in Goma village, Bondo, a 20-year-old woman identified as Janetrix Alunga died after being bitten by a snake. According to police reports, she was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to the venom. Visible scratches on her upper left arm are believed to be from the snake bite. Her body was taken to Bondo Sub-County Mortuary as investigations and a postmortem proceed.

In Tharaka Nithi County, the decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered along the banks of River Tana in the Gatunga area on July 24. Authorities suspect the individual may have drowned elsewhere and was swept downstream before being found. The remains were moved to a local mortuary for identification and autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kapkangani village, Nandi County, a 20-year-old man was stoned to death by residents who accused him of stealing maize. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Police have condemned the act, reiterating that mob justice is criminal and often results in the deaths of innocent individuals.

“Many victims of mob lynching are wrongly accused or framed. This must stop,” said one officer familiar with the case.

Investigations into all four incidents are ongoing as authorities urge the public to allow law enforcement to handle suspected crimes through proper legal channels.
