Investigators probing the assassination of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were have uncovered a vital piece of evidence: a firearm tied not only to his murder but also to a string of armed robberies in two counties.
A forensic analysis conducted by the National Police Service has confirmed that a Sarsilmaz pistol, recently seized from two individuals under investigation, was used in the fatal shooting. The same weapon has also been linked to three separate robbery incidents in Nairobi and Kiambu, deepening suspicions that the suspects are part of a wider criminal network.
In addition to the gun, police recovered personal items including a bag and a pair of shoes believed to match those worn by a suspect caught on camera near the scene where the MP was gunned down.
Ten suspects are now in custody as detectives intensify their efforts to map out the events leading to the MP’s targeted killing near Nairobi’s City Mortuary. One of the individuals who has drawn public attention is Philip Nahashon Aroko, a businessman who surrendered himself to authorities earlier this week. Aroko maintains he had no role in the killing and has alleged that political rivalries may be driving attempts to implicate him.
As the investigation gains momentum, the Interior Ministry has urged the public to remain calm, assuring citizens that law enforcement is committed to ensuring justice is served swiftly and transparently.
