The Kibera teenager accused of killing Nairobi Hospital finance director Eric Maigo has pleaded guilty to murder.
The suspect pleaded guilty despite being warned three times by Justice Kanyi Kimondo about the possible consequences of the plea.
The Judge asked her three times if she understood the charge, but she insisted on the plea. The charges were translated into Kiswahili.
Justice Kimondo directed her to consult with her lawyers and to appear before Justice Diana Mochache on 8 November for further directions.
The charge sheet alleges that she murdered Maigo at Woodley Estate in Nairobi on 15 September.
The suspect was caught on CCTV fleeing the scene of Maigo’s murder in Nairobi’s Jamhuri area on the morning of 15 October.
She was arrested at Olympic in Kibra after detectives were assisted by members of the public who provided information about her whereabouts.
The suspect will remain in custody at Langata Women’s Prison.
